Portraits can be in
a number of formats and media such as ceramic, cast bronze, hydrocal,
etc. A simple bust may be life-size or larger or the bust may
be elaborated with inclusion of shoulders, arm(s) or section of
chest. A full figure portrait might range in scale from a six
inch miniature to one of monumental size.
Portraits may be done from life (preferable) or from
photographs. Each portrait is approached in the same careful manner.
First a detailed study of the subject's features, expressions
and manner of carraige. Then consideration is given to the subject's
relationship to her/his environment.
