Pterodactyl,1964.
This was from my early abstract-expressionist period when studying with Katherine Nash. She taught me the concept of tension in composition in this one. My first presentation of the sculpture had it as a mildly interesting pyramidal structure. She suggested I turn it on it's side - and it took off in flight.
Unfortunately at that time it didn't occur to me that I should document my work so I have no more examples from that period. This one accidently turned up off to the side in a photo of something else.
